As I take a moment to review my artistic work from 2024, the experience is both enlightening and essential for growth. This year has offered a vibrant mix of experiences, some creative risks, and project milestones that have shaped my art in surprising ways.

Art has always been more than my job; it's my passion. In the past year, I've engaged in various projects, from illustrations to installations, each adding depth to my artistic narrative. Let’s explore some notable highlights from my creations this year.

Illustrations

First of all, illustrations. I worked on few commissioned book projects, finished the illustrations for "The Girl saw the Beetle". The book written by Kim Benson, a talented school teacher and writer from BC, will be published by YNWP, Saskatchewan, in the next year.

My illustrations to "Pushka. Kitten in War" were chosen to the final of the Children's Book Fair in Bologna. I received the offer from one of Canadian Publishers (will make an additional post about this later next year). The project is in the negotiation process now.

My illustrations to "The Rediculous Horny Snail", the poem by Judy D. Winters, got into the final of the World Illustration Competition HIII in China.

Nuit Blanche!

Participating in Nuit Blanche was one of my most thrilling experiences this year. This all-night arts festival celebrates community and creativity, where art takes center stage under the glow of moonlight.

My installation piece was a large papier mache installation of a Stork covered by ancient Ukrainian symbols "Leleka". I wrote about it in my last post. The installation was placed (or hanged up) at the entrance of Richmond 401 artist hub in downtown, Toronto, and is still there. Now I am working on finding a stable home for "Leleka".

Creating this installation, I thought about inspiring people to know more about Ukrainian Art and delivering a support message to migrants and refugees in Canada.

Festival of Trees in Mississauga

Another art project I felt in love with was "Tree of Life" sculpture. I prepared it for the Festival of Trees organized by Creativehub1352 in Mississauga. The 2-meters high tree assembled with many large beads and other parts was bright and colorfull, and attracted people. I was so happy to see smiles on people's faces every time they approached to my work!

Creative Growth Through the Venice Biennale

Attending the Venice Biennale was a pivotal moment this year. This prestigious platform showcases contemporary art from across the globe, and seeing the variety of artistic expressions truly inspired me.

Looking Forward

While 2024 has already offered so many experiences, I am eager to explore what lies ahead for my artistic practice. I plan to delve deeper into installation art and new techniques.

My next step is my solo art show "Tree of Life" at Assembly Hall in February-Mach 2025! I will exhibit paintings, batiks, graphical art and sculptures, so I have a lot of work to do!!!

Embracing the Artistic Path Ahead

Reflecting on my journey over the past year fills me with gratitude. From engaging illustrations to impactful installations at events like Nuit Blanche, each project has contributed to my growth as an artist.

I hope, the next year will be very productive. I continue planning my work, developing artistic projects, and learn, learn, learn...
